1. Resource Support System
Developing full-ocean-depth pressure-retaining microbial enrichment devices to overcome the bottleneck in culturing uncultured/difficult-to-culture microorganisms and enhance the capacity for acquiring deep ocean strategic bioresources; establishing an integrated resource repository of microbes - functional genes - natural products and an open-access shared data platform, forging a full-chain support system covering sample-data-information to provide source power supporting Shanghai's biomanufacturing industry.
2. Technological R&D System
Establishing a high-throughput functional screening and genome editing platform; developing CRISPR-Cas tools adapted to deep ocean microorganisms for precise analysis of unknown gene functions; integrating artificial intelligence and multi-omics technologies to build a closed loop of data-driven - intelligent screening - experimental verification, supporting interdisciplinary innovation in artificial intelligence and life sciences in Shanghai.
